Club President Bill Kelly and the committee have been working hard and have a great day planned, wrapping up what has been a great year for the club.
This year, life memberships have been deservedly presented to Myron Novelly, Mark Murphy, Clem Barnett and last but not least Peter Jenkins, who has also released a book on the event.
The book covers the history of Australian racing as it grew from Hawkesbury and then into Sydney.
It also covers other great information on races such as Quipolly and Werris Creek.
Prizes in the raffle on race day include a copy of the book.
President Bill Kelly was also elected this year as delegate on the Hunter and North West racing committee.
Race Day line up
- 1st race: 950m is the David Ham Memorial in honour of a great man in Hammy (David Ham) who spent 25 years as barrier attendant.
- 2nd race: 1150m is a new sponsor back local celebrity Mr Shaun Hamilton
- 3rd Race: 1150m will sponsored by another exciting sponsor Scone Race Club
- 4th race: 1350m is the Penrose Prime meats
- The final race: is over 1500m is the 167th Manuka Chaff Wallabadah Cup.
Chaff is back for a 5th year as Major and Cup sponsor.
Racing NSW Chairman Mr Russell Balding has announced that this year the prize money will be increased by $2000 for Country non- tab Meetings.
NSW racing minister, Mr Paul Toole said
“Country races are close to the heart of many rural areas throughout NSW.
“Bringing communities together, not only are country races important to the local residents but they are an important draw card for tourists and visitors to the communities.”
The fashions on the field this year is sponsored by Quirindi Florist and lolly shop.
Nigel Clarke NRMA & Automotive is the sponsor of the popular hobby stick horse race.
The day promises a great line up of entertainment for the children.
There will be a jumping castle and the ever popular Rodney Walker as Rodney the clown will be there on day.
There will also be plenty of food and beverages available, with icy cold slushies to keep everyone cool.
There is no BYO Alcohol due to liquor licensing laws and gates open at 11 am. See the facebook page for updates.
