The Bureau of Meteorology (Bom) is working closely with NSW SES to monitor and track the development of the weather system that may impact these areas.
NSW SES encourages locals to stay alert this weekend, listen to any updates and advice and to monitor the BoM website on www.bom.gov.au
“Severe thunderstorms can cause heavy localised rain, which may lead to flash flooding,” NSW SES Deputy Incident Controller Maria Frazer said.
“We advise the community to stay aware of the situation and avoid any unnecessary travel during severe weather.”
The State Emergency Service says people should:
• Move your car under cover or away from trees
• Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony
• Keep away from fallen power lines
• Keep clear of creeks and storm drains
• Never enter flash floodwater
• If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue
• Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
For emergency help in floods and storms, phone the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
