But, not many of them would have been prepared for the downpour, which occurred.
And, in some parts of the region, the rainfall has continued on Friday.
According to the BoM, Merriwa received more than 20mm overnight, and collected another 35mm this morning.
Although, a few locals believe that figure could be as high as 57.5mm today.
Even the town’s main sporting field is currently underwater – a rare sight in these dry times.
Muswellbrook and Aberdeen registered their wettest days of the month, about 13mm each, on Thursday, while Murrurundi recorded more than 20mm this week.
Unfortunately, Scone seemed to miss most of the rain, less than 10mm and that occurred on Wednesday.
With the weekend approaching, the BoM is predicting possible showers throughout Muswellbrook, Singleton and Upper Hunter LGAs again on Saturday, despite temperatures reaching 32 at all three centres.
Another warm day is forecast for Sunday, with 33 degrees on the cards, but with a strong chance of storms in the area.
