The facility has been running small private tours while successfully breeding and building an insurance population of disease free Tasmanian devils since the first year of operation in 2011.

And, in 2019, they are going the next step and opening their doors to the general public.

During January (from Tuesday, January 1, to Sunday, January 27), visitors can meet some of Australia’s most endangered species. 

The doors will only be open for a limited time with opening hours from 10am to 2pm every day with tours of the facility running at 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30pm.

While on the tour, it has been guaranteed that visitors will see and encounter Tasmanian devils in their wild enclosures and get up close to Eastern quolls.

“This is a huge milestone for us,” Devil Ark president Tim Faulkner said.

“We have been running private tours for the past four years.

“However, we have never been open for passers-by to visit at their own leisure.  

“To be officially opening for this limited time is really exciting for us and we can’t wait to share this experience with everyone.

“We can guarantee that all of our visitors will personally be able to see our Tasmanian devils in their wild environments as well as our recently added Aussie Ark species, the Eastern quoll.”

There will be no need to pre-book for the event as there will be payment options available upon arrival to Devil Ark.  

Prices are $30 per adult, $15 per child and $85 for a family (2AD, 2CH) to visit Devil Ark during this period with the guided tour included in these costs.  

There will also be discounts for groups of 10+ people.  

Devil Ark has partnered with Upper Hunter Shire Council and The Orchard Lodge.  

Together, they aim to make the event bigger and better than Devil Ark could alone, and not only bring more visitation to the region, but also more overnight stays.

Devil Ark is located on Tomalla Station high in the Barrington Tops, with the closest major towns being Scone and Gloucester.
