However, the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre (SNRC) is determined to brighten things up as much as possible – with a little bit of assistance.
“Not everyone looks forward to Christmas Day,” SNRC manager Lee Watts said.
“But, I hope our service can help a little by bringing a smile to a child on Christmas morning.
“Our Christmas program receives no funding and relies solely on donations.
“So, a big thank you goes out to the community and local businesses that have generously donated food essential items, gifts and cash.
“Many people donate to the neighbourhood centre on a regular basis and keep our pantry stocked.
“We’re truly so very thankful for your ongoing support.”
The team will now put the hampers together for those families in need.
“Hopefully, this small gesture adds a little cheer on Christmas Day, with thanks to Ray White Dawson Scone, the church and Scone & District Pre-School,” Mrs Watts said.
“They’ve organised presents through drives to compliment the hampers that will go out to families.
“No-one chooses to be in this sort of position.
“And, through no fault this year, there are families who need a little extra help to put food on their table or to place a Christmas gift under the tree for a child.
“From the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre committee, staff and volunteers, we wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.”
