New Cold Chisel album coming: Barnes

Cold Chisel frontman Jimmy Barnes has revealed the band will make another record next year.

Barnes announced he and his band mates' plans to make more music after winning an ARIA award on Wednesday night.

"I'm going to go in the studio with Cold Chisel we'll probably make a record to have out by the end of next year so it's going to be another busy year," he told reporters in Sydney.

"We might be playing at the ARIAs."

The new band music will cap off a busy upcoming year for Barnes, who plans to release another solo album in April, followed by a tour.

But despite his successful solo career, Barnes says there's no substitute for the thrill Cold Chisel brings him, even after 45 years together.

"Whenever I play with Cold Chisel, at this point 45 years later, to walk on stage and still feel the thrill of playing with the best band you've ever been in, it's just incredible and I'm really chuffed," he said.

"I hope that Cold Chisel goes on for plenty more years yet because I think the chemistry we get on stage is electric, it's really special."
