The event, at the Rosedale Complex on November 11, kicked off with a creative dress-up contest.
The children enjoyed exploring their creativity with some marvellous outfits including fairies on their ponies, a few cup-winning jockeys, a redback spider and even a skeleton horse and rider.
The best dressed, Christmas-themed award went to Paige Baxter who was dressed as a Xmas fairy and an appropriately accessorised horse.
Best dressed, non-themed, was awarded to Teejay Davis, who came as a lion.
After the dress-ups, the youngsters enjoyed some games with team and individual events, all planned around horsemanship and fun.
The children relished competing against each other, cheering on their friends and a nice “cool down” during the final event, the apple bob.
Some other activities included musical flags, team mug and sack races.
The group paused during their games to honour, respect and remember those men and horses who fought bravely for our country with one minute’s silence.
Everyone finished off a wonderful morning with some yummy “party” food shared by all the families, a sausage sizzle and the annual presentation.
Murrurundi Pony Club had a big 2018, with members competing in a range of events both near and far.
“We have had members competing in show jumping, eventing, dressage, camp drafting, Presidents Cups and interschools,” Melissa Baxter said.
“A huge thank you goes to our amazing committee, parents and wonderful children who all helped make 2018 a fun and enjoyable year.”
