Between 2pm on Sunday, September 30, and 11am on Monday, October 1, two Reconyx Hyperfire HC500 outdoor security cameras, more commonly known as “trail cameras”, were stolen from the vicinity of Junction Pools and Middle Ridge Trail in the Barrington Tops.
The cameras were utilised for monitoring of wildlife in the area.
Offender/s have stolen the metal boxes that they were also secured in.
Police have also had numerous reports regarding the theft of their council waste bins.
The bins are usually being stolen from the kerb side and are commonly used for holding stock feed or landfill to make mounds/jumps.
The bins prove costly to the property owner, not the council, as property owners are having to foot the bill for replacements.
It’s also a timely reminder for anyone transporting stock to have your National Vendor Declaration (NVD) and/or Transported Stock Statement (TSS) in possession and completed correctly.
If transporting livestock, you must have the NVD completed, which clearly states where the stock has left from, and where they are travelling to.
The legislation requires this for biosecurity reasons.
Most people continue to do the right thing, however, on Sunday, October 28, a 28-year-old male from Brookfield was stopped by police upon the Golden Highway at Hollydeen, transporting three head of cattle.
The man had no NVD or TSS and the cattle had no ear tags.
As a result, he was issued with a $440 infringement notice for “stock owner not complete transported stock statement”.
Checks confirmed that the cattle were not stolen.
All livestock must be NLIS identified properly with tags prior to any movement off your property.
On Monday, October 15, a sheep was mauled to death by two domestic dogs at a property in Scone.
The dogs are believed to have come from a neighbouring property.
Police and RSPCA are conducting joint investigations into the incident.
