And, as well as activities on offer including laser tag, bubble soccer, camel rides and rock climbing, general manager Jason Linnane is throwing out a challenge to everyone to brighten up and sign up for the Colour Run – on Sunday, November 18 – to raise money to address bullying.
The Colour Run will be the curtain-raising activity for Blast, the latest addition to the community event calendar, acting on a suggestion by young people at the Singleton Youth Venue.
Cost to participate in the Colour Run is $16.50 per person or $50 per family, and tickets must be purchased online at www.stickytickets.com.au/78071
All other activities are free.
Hunter Valley Operations has thrown its support behind the event to partner with council to bring Blast to life.
Mr Linnane said the day was designed to get people together, get outdoors and try something new.
“But, most of all, we want people to have a lot of fun,” he added.
“The Singleton local government area is the perfect place for any kind of adventure, and Blast is a great way for people to get out and stick their toe into something new – like rock climbing, or camel riding or laser tag.
“We’re going to brighten up the lives of lots of young people by holding our very own Colour Run, with the cost of tickets to go towards funding an anti-bullying program in Singleton.
“I’m going to be there, and I’m challenging other community leaders to sign up and have a go as well.
“It’s a short course, and you can run it, walk it or skip it – so you can’t use your level of fitness as an excuse.”
Hunter Valley Operations manager environment and community Andrew Speechly said the organisation was attracted to the excitement of the day to get involved.
“This is a unique event that actively encourages people to get involved and share new experiences with their family and friends,” he said.
“Any member of the family can join in, and try something they’ve never done before, like Zumba or laser tag, or you can head to a food truck or enjoy a sausage sizzle.
“It’s really family-friendly fun at its best and better yet, all the activities are free apart from the Colour Run which will benefit young people in Singleton.
“It’s a great event all round, and we look forward to seeing a big crowd on the day.”
Blast will be held at Civic Park on Sunday, November 18, from 10am to 5pm.
Activities include bubble soccer, laser tag, rock climbing, tug of war, gymnastics, camel riding, jumping castles and much more.
Food trucks, a sausage sizzle and ice creams will also be available.
The Colour Run will take place from 10am.
