Hosted by the Merriwa Country Education Foundation (MCEF), it proved a wonderful way to spend the afternoon watching the Melbourne Cup under the shady verandah of one of Merriwa’s premier properties, Brindley Park.
Event coordinator and MCEF secretary Amanda Kemp said she was thrilled with the turn out.
“The venue was perfect and the gardens looking divine,” she explained.
“We sincerely thank Brindley Park for allowing us to hold our event in such a grand and gracious setting.
“For us the day was all about raising funds and awareness about the Merriwa Country Education Foundation.
“We rely upon donations from the community and events like this to continue to provide financial support to Merriwa pupils.”
Since its inception in 2002, MDEF have awarded grants to 36 Merriwa students to assist with tertiary expenses such as books, fees, relocation costs and student accommodation.
Mrs Kemp sincerely thanked Brindley Park, Two Rivers Wines, Merriwa IGA, Merriwa Tourist Welcoming Centre and Men’s Shed, Merriwa Portal, Cowans Buses and W and F Turner.
