The romantic comedy, rated PG, is scheduled to screen at the pop-up cinema – located on the corner of Oxford Road and Cooper Street – on Friday, November 8, at 7.30pm.
Doors open from 7pm.
The movie centres on Rachel Chu, a native New Yorker of modest means, who is happy to accompany her long-time boyfriend, Nick, to his best friend's wedding in his hometown of Singapore.
She is surprised to learn that Nick's family is extremely wealthy – and he's considered one of the country's most eligible bachelors.
Thrust into the spotlight, Rachel must now contend with jealous socialites, quirky relatives and something far, far worse - Nick's disapproving mother.
“Crazy Rich Asians was the surprise US comedy hit of the year and has been praised by the critics,” Scone Films’ Catherine Boulton said.
“The Rotten Tomatoes website rated it 92 per cent, while Hollywood Reporter labelled it ‘Thoroughly captivating’.
“Meanwhile, Vanity Fair enthused it as ‘Breathless fun’, and IndieWire described it as ‘A wildly entertaining package’.”
Tickets are $12.
There is limited seating, so to be sure of a ticket, purchase in advance from Scone Films’ website or at Hunt a Book, Scone.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available.
“As always, there is a warm welcome for everyone,” Ms Boulton said.
“You don’t have to be a member.
“Come with friends, or come on you own and make new friends there.”
