The local organisation is hosting a special event, Baking for the Battlefield, on Friday, November 9, at the All Saints Anglican Church Hall, High Street, from 10am until noon.
The members have been busily preparing for the function through crafting decor, compiling recipes and organising numbers.
“It’s certainly an important milestone,” publicity officer Rosaleen James said.
“So, we’ll have a morning tea with recipes from that era, as well as music from the World War I period.
“Our guest speaker on the day will be Major Timothy Butcher.
“A bugler, a minute’s silence at 11am and a display of World War I artefacts add to the atmosphere, too.
“We’re also conducting a raffle, with the prize being a painting by Vivian Dwyer of Flanders Poppies.
“Of course, the cakes will be available for sale as well.”
Tickets for the event are $10 – and selling fast.
