The UHMD brings together local miners, community representatives, business leaders, environmental groups, regulators and other local industries to identify, discuss and address challenges and impacts of mining in the Upper Hunter.
The annual forum – to take place at the Muswellbrook Race Club on Tuesday, November 20 – allows stakeholders a formal opportunity to join forces and help determine priorities for the dialogue’s future.
A key focus of this year’s event will be a morning networking and information exchange session where participants will be able to learn about the UHMD’s key themes, issues and projects, including:
* Local procurement and purchasing information from mining industry partners to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) understand how to access opportunities in the local mining sector;
* Key dialogue environmental projects covering land management and rehabilitation, air quality emissions and health and water quality;
* An update on the School Mine Tours Program and virtual reality technology demonstrations; and
* Synoptic Plan update on long term post-mining land uses opportunities in the Upper Hunter.
The forum will also be part of a broadcast on Hunter Valley Today on Radio 2NM.
Spaces for the event are limited.
Participants should register their interest in attending via email to info@nswmining.com.au by Tuesday, November 13.
