Conducted before a crowd of industry leaders and peers from across the Hunter and Central Coast regions, the awards acknowledge the talent of builders, contractors, designers and manufacturers who plan and construct quality new homes, townhouses, renovations, kitchens and bathrooms.
Judged by industry professionals, winners were selected in 28 separate categories, with Construct Central Coast taking out the coveted HIA-CSR Hunter Home of the Year Award for the second consecutive time.
In a mirror result to 2017, the award-winning home from the Central Coast also won the Custom Built Home of the Year, Bathroom Project of the Year, as well as a further two plaudits.
Against strong competition, the judges said “on entering the home the waterfront vista is impressive, but the spacious quality layout quickly brings the eyes back to absorb all.”
HIA Hunter executive director Craig Jennion congratulated Construct Central Coast and all Hunter Award winners and finalists.
“HIA members are dedicated to achieving the very best workmanship and standards in every project they undertake,” he said.
“HIA’s Awards provide a tremendous opportunity for our members to showcase their projects and highlight building and design excellence.”
Valley Kitchens & Joinery was the most awarded picking up six awards, including Kitchen Project of the Year, Kitchen Project over $80,001, Kitchen Project $35,001 - $40,000, Bathroom Project $20,001 - $25,000 and both Kitchen and Bathroom Design of the Year.
Other significant winners on the night, included GJ Gardner Homes Newcastle for Display Home of the Year, Hotondo Homes Central Coast for Project Home of the Year, Sean Richards Building for Renovation/Addition Project of the Year, Yarrum Designer Homes for Spec Home of the Year, P & D Bush Building for Townhouse/Villa of the Year and Millbrook Homes for Apartment of the Year.
Mr Jennion congratulated all 2018 entrants.
“HIA is delighted with the exceptional quality of entries and level of competition this year,” he said.
“All winners and finalists should be proud to have reached the pinnacle of building standards demonstrated in these awards.’
Overall victors in major categories will now represent the HIA Hunter region at the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards in 2019 to compete for national titles against winners from other HIA Regions.
