FORMER South Sydney Rabbitoh Ross Harrington will travel to Coolah, Cassilis, Merriwa and Scone during the Men of League Foundation’s Tackling the Drought Tour, which will start on October 5.

Harrington will be joined on the bus to this rugby league rural heartland by South Sydney teammate George Longbottom, as well as former Balmain Tiger Michael Marketo, while Australian Kangaroo Andrew “Bobcat” Ryan will also lend his valued support on day one.
The bus is scheduled to arrive in Coolah on Friday afternoon where a Kick-off Club meet and greet event will take place that night followed by a coaching clinic the next morning for aspiring rugby league stars.
They’ll then travel to Cassilis for a community lunch and Merriwa in the afternoon for a comedy show with comedian Darren Carr.
After a night in Merriwa, the bus will depart for Scone for a touch football game before returning to Sydney on Sunday evening.
A community event, including a free barbecue lunch, is also planned for Scone Park on Sunday, October 7, from 9.30am.
The coaching clinic, as well as additional social gatherings, will provide a much-needed morale boost to potential wellbeing recipients and introduce them to the support network that is available through the Men of League Foundation and its partners.
The foundation supports the men, women and children of the rugby league community in need of a helping hand – everyone who helps support the great game throughout these local towns.
Men of League Foundation chief executive officer Stephen Lowndes says the wheels on the Tackling the Drought Tour bus are now well and truly in motion.
“It’s not long until the convoy of buses depart from our Sydney headquarters to five regional areas, all strong rugby league nurseries,” he said.
“Excitement is very much beginning to build.
“Ross, George, Michael and Andrew have all generously offered their time to assist this fantastic cause, which we hope will bring a smile to the face of those who have been affected most by the tough season.
“The tour is all about reaching out and connecting with the locals in regional NSW, who have bred some of rugby league’s best.
“The interest and support around our mission has been tremendous.
“We are hopeful of even more current and former first grade players registering their interest for the tour and giving back to the rugby league community.”
