The 20-year-old won the prestigious Golden Bluey award for her mockumentary Life of the River, which perfectly parodied David Attenborough nature shows with an Australian twist.

Obviously being unable to use real animals, Ms Cutler hand-made all of the toys that were featured, which required an incredible amount of effort revealing the smallest item took two hours to create. 

She said it was no more than a stroke of luck that led her to think of such a unique and humorous idea.

“I was watching a David Attenborough film and then it changed to [Russell Coight’s] All Aussie Adventures,” she said.

“I was needle felting at the time so the light bulb just sort of went off in my head.”

While the idea may have come easy, a lot of effort went into production, with Ms Cutler spending in excess of 12 hours a day at Rockpools getting the takes just right.

Despite all the hard work, she was unsure what to expect heading into the night, and admitted the experience as a whole was a bit daunting.

“It’s terrifying [to win],” she said.

“I really didn’t expect it because there’s so many amazing films out there, so for me to be picked is just amazing.”

A picture of responsibility, Ms Cutler said she was likely to save the money and perhaps visit family overseas, as opposed to lashing out on any material goods.

In terms of future aspirations, she isn’t eyeing off an immediate return to the screen, but will happily do so if it feels right.

“Hopefully, I’ll continue if I have any more ideas.”
