“I look forward to working closely with the wider Singleton community and really advocating for young girls in the rural area,” Taylor explained.

She was sponsored by the Singleton Pony Club and is currently studying a double degree in Sports Management and Sport and Sport Exercise Science at the University of Canberra.

She completed Year 12 in 2017 at Singleton High School, achieving the Caltex Best Allrounder Award, and in January this year was named Singleton’s Australia Day Young Achiever.

For six months of this year, Taylor completed a voluntary internship in Sydney with Burn Bright, a not-for-profit organisation that delivers students leadership, wellbeing programs and camps throughout Australia. 

Once she completes her university studies, she plans to work for Burn Bright and inspire future leaders of Australia.

She hopes to encourage growth in women’s sport especially in rural and regional areas, too. 

Taylor was joined in the competition by local girls Rebecca Emerton and Abbie Samuels, who were both also very deserving candidates.

The judges, yet again, had another tough year, selecting the winner out of the three highly-intelligent, beautiful young ladies.

“The three of you are all great role models for the girls in this community,” judge Penny Evans said. 

“We can see you will use this experience as a platform to achieve great things.” 

Taylor will soon compete in the Group 3, Hunter River Zone (comprising Bulahdelah, Cessnock, Dungog, Gosford, Gresford, Maitland, Merriwa, Morisset, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Singleton, Stroud).

The winner of Zone will go on to compete at the Sydney Royal.
