“Dry conditions mean that the Barrington, Paddys Ridge, Green Gap and Butchers Swamp Trails will open early this year from Friday, September 28,” NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Barrington Tops area manager Anthony Signor said.
“Visitors can access and enjoy these sites on the October long weekend and from the start of the school holidays.
“Barrington Trail (south) from Junction Pools to Mount Barrington, as well as Tugalow and Thunderbolts Trails, will remain closed depending on trail conditions.”
Camping areas accessible by 4WDs over the October long weekend include:
• Little Murray
• Junction Pools; and
• Gummi Falls.
“Visitors are also reminded that Junction Pools camping area is not suitable for camper trailers, which are better off being set up at Little Murray,” Mr Signor said.
“To ensure visitor safety and minimise trail damage during extended wet periods, some four-wheel drive trails in Barrington Tops are closed during the winter months.”
