Traffic on the New England Highway will be subject to occasional stoppages of up to five minutes during the day and of up to 15 minutes at night from Sunday, September 16, to Saturday, September 22, weather permitting.

Motorists are also advised of changed traffic conditions from 9am on Tuesday, September 18, to 11am on Thursday, September 20, at and around the intersection of New England Highway and Maison Dieu Road at Gowrie.

Traffic will be diverted to a 300 metre-long temporary side road with a temporary bridge over the rail line during this period.

Traffic on the New England Highway will experience 15 minute stoppages when the traffic is diverted onto the side road at 9am on Tuesday, September 18, and also when diverted back onto the New England Highway at 11am on Thursday, September 20.

Access to and from Maison Dieu Road at the New England Highway will be closed while the temporary side road is in use.

Motorists requiring access to the Gowrie and McDougalls Hill area should use Magpie Street, which is approximately 1.5 kilometres north along the New England Highway, during this period (see attached map).

Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.

Oversized vehicles are advised of restrictions on the New England Highway at Gowrie during this time.

A vehicle weight limit of 74 tonnes, width limit of 4.6 metres and length limit of 30 metres will be in place from 9am on Tuesday, September 18, to 11am on Thursday, September 20.

A reduced vertical clearance of 5.0 metres will be in place from 11am on Thursday, September 20, until April 2019.

Oversized vehicles that have previously been able to travel through this area may need to detour during this period.
