The Murrurundi Golf Club donated $3000 to the organisation this week, the proceeds of a recent fundraiser on the greens and a raffle.
“Every season we host the Uncle Bill McLeod Charity Golf Day,” secretary Howard Lane said.
“So, that takes our total to more than $5000, to the NSW Cancer Council, over the past few years.
“We used to raise funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, but we’ve lost a number of golfing buddies to cancer in recent times.
“It’s a disease that touches so many people.
“The NSW Cancer Council does terrific work throughout the region – and we’re keen to help them any way we can.”
Mr Lane was quick to thank Lisa Leard from Priceline Pharmacy Muswellbrook and Nat Doonan.
“Nat did a great job selling the raffle tickets,” he said.
“That and the charity golf day are the two main components of our fundraising efforts.
“We received a lot of support from Priceline Pharmacy, too.
“They gave us prizes and paid for the meat for the barbecue.
“I’d just like to express my gratitude.”
