The former Newcastle Knight, and co-founder of the Mark Hughes Foundation, was keen to express his gratitude to four local educational facilities – Belltrees, Aberdeen, Denman Public and Muswellbrook South – who recently supported Beanies for Brain Cancer.
Collectively, the schools raised $1000.
And, Hughes was delighted with their effort.
“I can’t thank everyone enough,” he told the assembly at Muswellbrook South Public School.
“It’s fantastic to receive this kind of support.
“Every cent helps make a difference.
“Muswellbrook South Public School teacher Lauren Cartwright also deserves praise for coordinating the fundraiser.
“She did a fabulous job – as did the students and their families.”
Muswellbrook Public School dropped in with an extra donation, too.
