Areas under flight paths around Scone Regional Airport, including the Scone Golf Course and a number of sports fields, are no-fly zones for drones weighing 100g or more.
Stronger and clearer safety rules governing the flying of drones have been introduced by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
CASA has released the Can I Fly There? websitehttps://casa.dronecomplier.com/external and app which will advise you if you can fly in your current location.
There are a number of other rules that apply to recreational drone use including:
* You must only fly during the day and keep your drone within visual line of sight (with your eyes, not a device)
* You must not fly your drone higher than 120 metres above the ground
* You must keep your drone at least 30 metres away from other people
* You must not fly your drone over or near an area affecting public safety or where emergency operations are underway
* You must only operate one drone at a time
* Don’t record or photograph people without their consent
* You must not fly over or above people, including at parks, sports grounds or events
* When flying for money, or any form of economic gain (including advertising for real estate sales) you may need to be licensed and certified.
