Composting, worm farming, and living off the grid are some of the workshops coming up in the next few months.
Bookings are essential.
Council’s sustainability and environment manager Melinda Hale said the regular free workshops were based on topics central to council’s draft Sustainability Action Plan.
“If you are interested, register early as the first workshop on water wise gardening in May attracted a packed crowd,” Ms Hale said.
Composting and Worm Farming Workshops – Saturday, June 30
Learn how to reduce your organic and food waste by attending one or both of these free workshops at Scone Administration Centre.
Participants will have the opportunity to receive a free 220L Gedye Compost Bin Starter Pack or a Worm Café Starter Pack (only available to Upper Hunter Shire residents and other conditions apply).
Composting is 9.30am to noon.

Living off the Grid – Upper Hunter Style – Saturday, July 28
Come along to Scone Library from 11am to 2pm, and hear Trevor and Marion Woolley share their experiences with life “off the grid” in a modern society. Wendy Wales will also be demonstrating her solar oven if the weather permits.
