So, put July 14 and 15, into your diary to experience fast and furious off-road racing at its best, only 20km from Singleton.
The annual Hedweld Milbrodale Mountain Classic is fast approaching – and will be yet another spectacular action-packed event.
It also coincides with round three of the NSW Off Road Championship, round one of the Premier NSW Long Course Championship and round two of the East Coast Tri Challenge.
This prestigious event, hosted by the Hunter Valley Off Road Racing Association, has been conducted for 32 years.
And, organisers are expecting further success in 2018.
“We are anticipating a large field of local and interstate entrants this year to see who can win the very sought-after Man of the Mountain award,” Hedweld’s Sandy Thomas said.
“The Milbrodale venue offers a great spectator area, ensuring some spectacular action for all those wishing to enjoy the racing.
“Fans also have a chance to get close to the cars and talk to the competitors when the pits are open to the public during the lunch break.
“Food and drinks are available trackside and the event also provides activities for the children, including helicopter joy flights, jumping castles and amusement rides.
“Everything – from the facilities to the atmosphere – is rated highly throughout the off-road racing community.
“This event would not be possible without our sponsors: Hedweld Group of Companies, Bulga Coal, M&K Watercarts, Lancaster Motors, Myne Signs, Brison Contracting, WIN Network and others who generously support the classic.”
Day one, July 14, will be action-packed with the running of the prologue (to set race start times) and the opening race of the medium course (six laps).
With drivers full of adrenaline and machines fully-prepared, there should be no shortage of spectator advantage and excitement.
The second day, July 15, will not disappoint either, with more battles not only for the competitors out on the track but also the sideline spectators.
They can enjoy a four abreast start in race three for the short course heat.
“It’s tight and a little bit hectic over the first jump and into the first corner, which will no doubt result in some great spectator viewing,” Thomas said.
“After lunch the entire field will leave the arena to tackle the mountain for race four, which includes six laps of the long course (15km/per lap).
“The competitor who secures the fastest single lap of this heat will earn the prestigious title of Man of the Mountain.”
As always, the Milbrodale Mountain Classic is generously supported by the local community with the Bulga Bush Fire Brigade, Milbrodale Public School and Broke Public School all assisting while benefiting from the event.
During the weekend, organisers also raise money for very worthy causes, Witmore Enterprises, CanTeen and Simply Loving Taylor Inc.
