He was dumped in Muswellbrook in April last year in a severely emaciated condition.
He has now made a full recovery, yet heartbreakingly has been waiting in the shelter for over a year to find love.
Hugo was found with no identification, and despite RSPCA NSW urgently appealing for information, no-one came forward that knew how he’d come to be in such an extremely neglected condition.
RSPCA NSW inspectors rushed Hugo to a veterinary hospital where he has since made a miraculous and full recovery.
“Poor Hugo was just a skeleton when we first took him into our care,” attending Inspector Russell Jarman said.
“Unfortunately you get pretty used to seeing animal cruelty in this job, but Hugo’s condition was really horrifying.”
Hugo is now looking for love.
He’s been in RSPCA care for a whole year and a month, since April 21, 2017.
He’s a wonderful, sweet dog but unfortunately recently hasn’t been coping with the long wait in the shelter environment and has gone into foster care so he can be in a caring home while he continues to wait for his forever family.
“It’s heartbreaking for staff to see a beautiful dog like Hugo have to wait so long for someone to fall in love with him,” RSPCA NSW Sydney Shelter manager Donna Hough said.
“And, to see him start to not cope while he waits for over a year, it’s just horrible.
“We’re all rooting for Hugo to find his new forever family as soon as possible.
“He really deserves to be loved and spoilt, especially after such a hard start to his young life.”
Hugo “Weaving” is still learning socialisation with other dogs and ideally would go to a home where he is the only dog.
He is very affectionate and loves getting lots of attention and cuddles from his humans.
