It’s now in its fifth year and is shaping up to be another fun day – at Simpson Park on Wednesday, May 23, between 10am and 2pm.
Picnic in the Park celebrates National Families Week, National Simultaneous Storytime and National Volunteers Week.
The audience will be wowed by Reptiles Rule who’ll introduce you and your child to an exciting and fun experience with Australia’s unique reptilian wildlife.
Come along and meet “Crush” the metre-long saltwater crocodile.
There will be opportunities for up close interaction with the reptiles after two scheduled on stage performances.
Along with the rest of the nation at 11am, we’ll read Hickory Dickory Dash, the book chosen by National Simultaneous Storytime, a colourful, vibrant, fun Australian children’s book, which aims to promote the value of reading and literacy.
This year the book will be read by local radio personality Nix from Power FM.
Entertainment on the day will also be provided by our local children who will take the stage to showcase their many talents from schools, pre-schools and daycare centres.
Local services will attend, too, highlighting their information and fun activities.
Browse through the market stalls and check out the local handmade goods.
If your school, service or market stall would like to be part of this not-to-be-missed event, it is not too late to register your interest.
Contact Upper Hunter Community Services on 6542 3555.
Don’t miss the chance to sit in and explore the fire truck and meet the volunteers from Edinglassie NSW RFS (Rural Fire Service).
There will be no food or drinks available for sale on the day as organisers are encouraging everyone to bring a picnic lunch and water bottle.
There will be a free fresh fruit and water station proudly sponsored by Woolworths.
Picnic in the Park is coordinated by UHCS Upper Hunter Family Support Service, Hunter Park Family Centre and Aboriginal Family Worker.
UHCS invites everyone to come along and enjoy Picnic in the Park in 2018.
