Paul Bennet has flown more than 700 performances at over 300 displays, in front of several million fans.
But, he’s really looking forward to the Upper Hunter event at the Scone Regional Airport on Sunday, March 25.
“I’m bringing 10 airplanes to Scone – including a Wolf Pitts Pro, Pitts Model 12, Rebel 300, T-28 Trojan, P-51 Mustang and the Sky Aces Formation Team,” the owner of the Rutherford-based Paul Bennet Airshows said.
“If you like your aviation or stunts, it’s the place to be.
“And, even if you don’t, there’s a damn good collection on show, with a Hawker Hurricane, Curtiss P-40E Kittyhawk, Supermarine Spitfire MKVIII and much, much more.
“It will be a great event – and a terrific family day out.
“Even though I attended the Flight of the Hurricane in 2016, this will be the best one in Scone for some time.
“We’re expecting a lot of people.”
Mr Bennet has been performing at airshows since 2005, winning numerous aerobatic competitions along the way.
In 2008, he was crowned the Australian Advanced Aerobatic Champion.
Twelve months later, he secured the Australian Unlimited Aerobatic title, receiving the Phillips Cup.
“I usually do 25 shows a year, including ones in South Korea and China,” Mr Bennet said.
“So, it’s great for the organisers to put on an event like this in the Upper Hunter.”
Upper Hunter Shire mayor Wayne Bedggood said Bengalla Warbirds Over Scone would be a huge event for the region with a budget of nearly $200,000.
“We’re anticipating a crowd of over 8000 people,” he admitted.
“Aside from entry fees covering the event costs, it should bring more than $1 million in economic benefits to the area.
“We are hopeful of attracting visitors from across Australia who will not just attend this stunning aviation display in Scone, but enjoy a number of attractions over the weekend.
“In addition to the tourist dollars that the event will bring to the local economy, profits from the day will support the planned major redevelopment of Scone Airport and design and construction of the Warbirds Aviation Centre.”
Ticket prices for the Bengalla Warbirds Over Scone are $35 (adult), $15 (children 5-14 years), $80 (family – two adults, two children), $25 (pension card holders) and $120 (VIP).
Children younger than four will be admitted free of charge.
