Preceded by a parade on John Street on Saturday, April 7, starting at 10am, the showground is hosting the Singleton Community Day from 11am to 4pm with a massive schedule of entertainment and activities planned to suit the entire family.
Entry to the community day is free.
Professional motorcross stars, Freestyle Kings, will be the headline act for the day – with three thrill-packed displays of motorcycle aerial acrobatics scheduled for 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
Popular children’s entertainers, The Little Scallywagz, should bring big smiles to little faces with two performances at noon and 2pm.
The Australian champion mines rescue team from Wambo Mine will demonstrate its winning rescue skills at 1pm.
The Community Day will also host the NSW tug of war championships with heats throughout the day and the final for the title scheduled for 3pm.
Activities and entertainment will be on show throughout the day including free children’s activities, coal shovelling competitions, indigenous dancers, music and more.
The mining industry will also be on show with displays by mining companies and their community partners.
The industry exhibits will be joined by displays by community and charity groups.
Mining companies Glencore, Yancoal and Bloomfield/Rix’s Creek will operate bus tours to nearby mines from 9am on the day.
The tours are free but bookings are essential and available through the festival website huntercoalfestival.org.au
Singleton Historical Society and Museum will open its rural farm display during the community day.
The display features heritage farm equipment, tools and machinery and will complement the display of vintage cars and tractors during this fun filled and free day for the community.
