The first will represent the New England North West region (NENW) and the second the Hunter, Central Coast, Mid-North Coast and Central West (Hunter).
“The purpose of each committee is to advise and assist the existing Board of Directors and senior management team on matters relevant to each local region,” Upper Hunter community liaison officer Danny Eather said.
“It’s important that the Upper Hunter region is represented on the advisory committee.
“Speaking with both James [Lawrence - marketing and fundraising manager] and Richard [Jones], ideally representative from the livestock, horse and mining industries would be ideal.”
The Hunter committee will be appointed for the first time, but the NENW executive has been in place since 2000.
A third but separate group was recently established in Lismore.
WRHS chief executive officer Richard Jones OAM said each committee would comprise a chairperson and up to eight members from the local community.
Each person will be selected in a merit-based process that considers skills, experience and qualifications.
“We have always received wonderful support from our community and each of these committees will ensure our direction and partnerships continue to serve the community’s best interests,” Mr Jones said.
“Through strong local governance and advice on matters such as community partnerships, fundraising and local regional priorities, each committee will play a key role in our future.
“Ideally we want to achieve representation from our major geographic centres.
“As our coverage has expanded, we want to ensure we remain well connected with local communities and see these regionally-based advisory committees as an excellent way to do that.”
On March 10, 2017, the service announced the start of a new 10-year contract with NSW Ambulance to operate the Northern Zone of the NSW Helicopter Retrieval Network.
It now operates 24-7 from three bases in Belmont, Tamworth and Lismore.
Expressions of Interest will be welcomed up until January 30.
This must be done in writing and include a current resume.
