In 2016, organisers were forced to abandon proceedings on the morning of the competition.
But, Mr Singleton is optimistic of a better result at the Muswellbrook Showground on Saturday and Sunday.
“We’d definitely like some fine conditions,” he said.
“We missed out last year due to rain, however the competitors’ safety was of paramount importance.”
The rodeo starts from noon on Saturday, with the main program scheduled to begin at 6pm in a variety of disciplines – including steer wrestling, saddle bronc, bareback, rope and tie, barrel race, bull and steer rides and breakaway roping to name just a few.
Sunday’s action features a jackpot round.
Bar and canteen facilities are available over the two days, while music will entertain the crowd after Saturday’s finale.
“We’re keen for a big event,” Mr Singleton said.
“And, in 2017, our charity recipient is Where There’s A Will, so we’d love plenty of local support.
“Our thanks go to our many sponsors, too.
“Without them, events like this can’t go ahead.”
In almost three decades, the Muswellbrook Charity Rodeo has given away more than $60,000 to not-for-profit organisations.
