And as the sun rose on Anzac Day, more than 100 years after the landing at Anzac Cove, Gallopoli, one of the largest crowds in recent years turned out to pay their respects to those that have served then, and since the “war to end all wars”.
President of the Raymond Terrace RSL Sub-Branch, Captain Vic Jones (Royal Australian Navy Reserves) presided over a simple but moving service that paid homage to the bravery of the Anzacs.
“I think we got about 350 there,” he said.
“The numbers are increasing compared to prior years, especially with the younger generations.”
