And, with April 4 now on the calendar, the committee is asking Upper Hunter residents to consider entering the 2017 edition.
“Plans for the competition are well in hand and we’re again looking for a good response,” Lyn MacBain said.
“An important thing for residents to remember is that all gardens are in the same boat when it comes to weather effects.”
The variety of categories allows participation for a wide range of gardens including household, shared accommodation, community, education and business.
A good neighbours’ section and household vegetable garden are also incorporated.
“The committee looks forward to seeing the entries in this year’s novelty section ‘Fairies or Super Heroes Theme in a Pot’; a category that even the youngest gardener can take part in,” Mrs MacBain said.
“With wonderful sponsorship, the 2017 competition boasts some great prizes including cash and items.”
Entries close on March 31 with judging taking place on April 4.
Presentation of prizes is conducted on April 7 from 6.30pm at the Grand Hall in Mechanics Institute at 74 George Street.
Entry forms can be collected at The Singleton Argus, LJ Hooker and Kirkwood’s Produce.
