And, Singleton Lions Club members are inviting the community to attend their annual Monster Lions Book Sale and pick up a great bargain, from Thursday, July 30, to Saturday, August 1.
Once again, the Army will be assisting the club in filling Singleton Showground pavilion with thousands of books.
The event has been in the club’s hands since 2005, when they were given the reins from Lifeline.
Since then, its members have been working constantly throughout the year, collecting and sorting books to add to the collection.
Club treasurer Judy Langbien said the books don’t carry on from year to year.
“None of these books will go to next year,” she said.
“And they’re good quality books.”
Mrs Langbien said a highlight of the event was the community is able to buy cheap books to enjoy.
To achieve something as big as the book sale requires continuous effort from the club, and a bit of help from the community.
“Every week someone is in that shed sorting those books,” Mrs Langbien said.
“The Army are absolutely fantastic.
“We really appreciate their help.
“I don’t think we’d be able to do it without them.”
The event will be raising funds to charity and community groups in Singleton.
The books will range in price from 50 cents to $2.
The pavilion will be open from 9am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday, and remain open until 6pm on Thursday.
Entry is free and tea and coffee will be available.
Singleton Lions Club are always welcoming new members to their group.
