The girls are hosting a fundraiser for their hall maintenance, as well as an upcoming trip to jamboree later this year.
On Saturday, March 21, they will be collecting cans, car batteries, and air-conditioners for recycling.
People are asked to drop the items at the Scone Guide Hall, Main Street, Scone, between 9am and noon.
Treasurer Sharon Peters is a mother of two girls in the Scone group and said the fundraiser was a great opportunity for the children to learn.
The jamboree returns every two years, and in 2015, it will be in Queensland from September 25 to October 3.
Recycling is one of the badges the girls can collect and the fundraiser will help them receive the award.
“Obviously it helps the girls to recycle,” Mrs Peters said.
“It’s something a little bit different and they can actually do it themselves.”
Scone Girl Guides is open to children aged 6 to 10 years old, and Blue Bird Guides is open to girls 10 to 14 years old.
Skills learnt at Girl Guides include knot tying, camping, cooking on an open fire, and putting up tents.
The local group is always looking for new members.
