What will you do?

With commitment to client delivery we welcome applications to enable us to be future ready as we move through the current climate of change. At this time, we welcome applications from Electrical Engineers to join our team co-located on site with Sydney Water and our JV partner.

Sydney Water supplies water, wastewater, recycled water and stormwater services to more than five million people in Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains. Its operations include 30 water and wastewater treatment plants, 260 reservoirs and over 800 pumping stations and 2,400 buildings across 13,000km2 serviced.

Aurecon and Arup have secured a 10-year contract to partner with Sydney Water to build an integrated in-house planning and concept design team and to support technical assurance of the capital program. This presents an excellent

opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the planning and concept design team to deliver Water & Wastewater Projects at part of a long-term program of works.

We welcome applications from senior level candidates, noting previous Water Industry experience is preferred.

We are pipelining talent to join us in working with the largest water utility in Australia in a fast-growing city, the opportunities to be involved in an exciting and important capital program are immense.

You will be responsible for working with multidisciplinary design teams and Sydney Water stakeholders to deliver a wide range of water projects across the Sydney Water region. Additional will be responsible for:

  • Developing electrical concept designs and reviewing electrical calculations, drawings, specifications and other design documentation in the field of LV and HV design.
  • Developing innovative technical solutions to electricity infrastructure problems and to challenge existing solutions.
  • Identifying and mitigating key design risks in order that they do not adversely impact on the project through its lifecycle.
  • Preparing project scopes, business cases and proposals
  • Site inspections for compliance with design and standards and identification of issues and risks

What can you bring to the team?

Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future.

You will also need:

  • An Electrical Engineering Degree with minimum 8 years design experience

LV and HV power distribution and control experience

  • LV and HV motor control experience
  • Instrumentation and controls experience (preferable)
  • To apply a working knowledge of relevant engineering legislation and Australian Standards (e.g. AS/NZS3000, AS/NZS3008 and AS2067)
  • Power system modelling and analysis experience (with software e.g. SKM Powertools, ETAP, PowerCAD) to carryout load flow, short circuit, power quality and protection studies
  • Demonstrated capacity to identify innovations, realise opportunities and maximize value for money through the planning and design process.
  • Demonstrated ability in financial management and reporting, including budgeting
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A current Australian drivers’ licence.
  • Hazardous area experience (preferable)
