Now, Tai Chi for Fitness Over Forty is a health program that uses specially-selected tai chi disciplines to maintain vitality and well-being throughout life.
Local Australian Academy of Tai Chi senior instructor Alex McHarg will host a session based on the Tai Chi for Fitness Over Forty program, on Saturday, January 20, between 9.30am and 1pm at the Singleton Diggers Alroy complex, Dorsman Drive, at a cost of $20.
“The approach is mediative and strengthening, while the exercises will help to prevent or control arthritis, back pain, poor balance or coordination, blood pressure, circulation problems, chronic fatigue, depression and osteoporosis,” he said.
“With some of the major health problems facing us today resulting from stress and lack of physical activity, this is a chance to come and see how easy it is to incorporate some of these activities into our lives to combat these problems.
“In a recent newspaper article headed ‘Stress is on The Rise’, the number of stressed Aussies has jumped by about a third to 4.9 million during the past decade.
“Tai Chi is well-recognised as reducing and maintaining low stress levels.”
