BHP has committed in excess of a million dollars to building a more resilient Upper Hunter community with the extension of its leading partnership in the region.

The company announced on Wednesday it had renewed its affiliation with Upper Hunter Community Services (UHCS) for four years.
Funding of $1.14 million will support the Community Capacity Building Project, a significant and beneficial development relationship.
BHP Mt Arthur Coal general manager David Boshoff said renewing the partnership with UHCS and funding the Community Capacity Building Project was important to building a strong, sustainable and resilient community.
“Seeing the work the team at UHCS perform with the community every day is very humbling – and BHP is very proud to be involved,” he said.
“The Community Capacity Building Project has delivered, and will continue to deliver, far-reaching and quite profound support to the community in which BHP operates.
“It is reassuring to know the level of service and support UHCS provides to the community and which our employees and contracting partners can access if they feel the need.”
Upper Hunter Community Services auspices quality services and community projects to promote the wellbeing of individuals, families and the community throughout the region.
UHCS manager Sue Milton says it was gratifying and exciting that the work begun under the original partnership in 2012 will be strengthened and built upon.
“The momentum we have generated through this partnership is important to continue so we can help our community grow sustainably and healthily and ensure we all remain on a strong footing,” she said.
“Upper Hunter Community Services is pleased to partner with BHP and we’re excited for the future for UHCS as well as Muswellbrook and the surrounding region.”
