Hosted by Merriwa Anglican Parish, the Brindley Park Garden Ramble drew in crowds from as far as of Mudgee, Dubbo, Tamworth and even Sydney.
The weather proved perfect for the event, with the sun shining and a breeze blowing as both young and old pulled up at the property.
Before guests even entered the property, they were able to admire the intricate design of the iron front gates which were constructed by Jim Boys, a local artisan who had been involved in the development of a recently built section of the homestead.
Once inside guests were able to tour the historic homestead’s surrounding gardens, full of hundreds of roses, lavender, irises, and exotic trees.
According to Merriwa locals, Ted and Jenny Finnie, many people lingered in the orchards fascinated by the variety of fruit tree species, making mental notes of what to plant next in their own gardens at home.
Entertainment was provided by the talented Scone Grammar Senior Orchestra and their Head Teacher of Music, Jason Buckley, while guests mingled on the verandah of the historic home.
One person who truly enjoys the Brindley Park gardens is Amanda Nebauer, who cares for the property on a daily basis.
Over the course of the Garden Ramble weekend, Amanda was able to direct visitors to her favourite spot - a hidden space behind a high hedge with a large pond full of phragmites reeds.
All those who participated in the weekend thoroughly enjoyed their time, even expressing their interest in having a similar event next year.
