The Upper Hunter facility snared the title from a strong field of nominees and was one of seven category winners announced last Friday at Marina Views Function Centre on the Harbour.
The ceremony was hosted by PRIME7 news presenter Daniel Gibson.
More than 200 guests gathered from across NSW and the ACT including official guest The Hon Paul Toole MP, Minister for Lands and Forestry, to celebrate regional New South Wales and the ACT’s high achievers and community contributors.
Gummun Place Hostel in Merriwa is a 16-bed aged care facility established in 1994.
With 17 staff, the hostel is one of the town’s largest employers.
They also have access to an electronic training portal, annual mandatory training sessions and individual development plans which is impressive for a small facility.
The staff has flexible shifts for work/life balance and can accrue extra hours for time in lieu.
Staff and residents participate in many local community events.
