SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) Recovery is a free group program assisting any problematic behaviours, including addiction to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, gambling, food, shopping, internet and others.
Guided by the facilitators, participants come to help themselves and help each other using a variety of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and motivational tools and techniques.
SMART Recovery meetings occur once a week for 60 minutes and are run by a trained SMART Recovery facilitator.
The group focuses on the addictive behaviour, not the substance itself and participants identify goals and set their own achievable plan for the next seven days.
Meetings take place at the QEII Building, on the corner of Market and Bridge streets, Muswellbrook, from 2pm every Friday, starting on November 10.
