And, organisers of the Bengalla Community Open Day certainly had a smile on their faces.
Numbers were reportedly up on previous outings, despite the threat of rain.
Mine tours, interactive displays and plenty of entertainment ensured there was something for everyone.
“The Community Open Day is about opening our doors, so people get to know a bit more about us, what we do and our contribution to help strengthen the local community,” Bengalla CEO Cam Halfpenny said.
“We are long term members of the Upper Hunter valley and committed to the future.
“The event is a great opportunity for us to get out in the community, and a good chance for our employees who live in the area to show their families and friends what they do.”
