Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) would carry out road rebuilding work along a 2.2 kilometre section of the highway.
“Work is scheduled to start on Monday, October 16, and is expected to be completed in January, weather permitting,” he said.
“Work hours will be during the week between 7am and 6pm until Friday, October 27.
“Night work will then start from Sunday, October 29, with work to be carried out Sunday to Thursday between 6.30pm and 5.30am.
“I can further inform our local community that no work will be carried out during the Christmas and New Year holidays from Friday, December 22, until Monday, January 8.”
For the safety of workers and motorists, there will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe, including a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h during work hours.
“I would like to advise motorists to follow the direction of traffic control and signs and keep to the reduced speed limits, and I would like our local Aberdeen community to know that Roads and Maritime thanks motorists and the community alike for their patience while this work is carried out,” Mr Johnsen said.
