Muswellbrook Jiu Jitsu and Empowering Young Women have joined forces to bring a new workshop – Unless the Warrior Within – to women aged 17 years and older.

Program coordinator Sally Comerford said participants would gain tools for life and increased confidence in being able to take care of themselves.

“Unfortunately you never know when or if something may happen to you,” she said.

“If someone came up behind you while walking and tried to grab you, what do you do?

“How you can protect yourself and stand up for yourself in real life situations?

“The program goes for six weeks, every Monday night for one hour, starting October 19.”

Mrs Comerford said there were limited spaces available, and encouraged women to book their place to avoid disappointment.

“Women today are busy taking care of others, children, partners, work, that they tend to leave themselves to last,” she said.

“[They] then have no energy left to do anything for themselves.

“This is the one thing that you should do for you.

“You will feel empowered again, have more energy, more focus and a new zest for life.

“Do this one thing for you today.

“Learn to take control of your own life and learn to stand up for you.”

The program costs $60 per person.
