Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen presented the vehicle to the brigade on Friday.
He said the new Isuzu tanker would improve the capacity of local Fire & Rescue NSW firefighters to deal with bush and urban fires.
“The NSW Liberals and Nationals Government is committed to investing in the safety of our firefighters,” he said.
“We are making sure they have the latest equipment to support them in the vital work they do.
“This multi-purpose vehicle is a four-wheel drive which allows firefighters to access fires and rescue incidents in difficult and isolated terrain.
“It has a water spray cabin protection system that can be operated to protect the crew.
“The vehicle can also be used for structural firefighting and transporting firefighters and equipment to motor vehicle accidents.
“The new rescue tanker is equipped with a 1500 Litre water tank and specialised storage for rescue equipment.
“The Nationals in Government are supporting and backing our firefighters by providing them with the best equipment and technology available to help them protect life and property.”
The Murrurundi Fire Station is home to 14 retained firefighters.
