It’s unique to the area, bringing award-winning Australian short movies, some of which have screened around the world, to the Hunter Valley.
“This will be the ninth festival – on September 16 and 17,” Scone Films’ Catherine Boulton said.
“It features a fantastic selection of world-class Australian short films.
“This is a chance to see top quality movies without having to go to the city.
“Once again it's all-Aussie at the film festival.
“In previous years, good crowds have gathered to enjoy the festive experience and appreciate the program of only Australian short films.
“This year, we have a wide selection of short films including comedy, animation and drama, with something for all age groups.”
Attend on Saturday evening for the red carpet event with film guests, drinks, supper, dessert and tea/coffee.
Entry for this highly-enjoyable and social evening is $30 and it starts at 6.30pm.
“Dress up if you like and enjoy a real festive atmosphere,” Mrs Boulton said.
“A delicious supper and drinks will be served before the films, and coffee and dessert afterwards.
“Some of the producers, directors or actors of the films are available to chat about their offerings, too.”
Fish With Legs is an animation that won its category at Flickerfest and screened in the opening night program of the St Kilda Film Festival.
There is a comedy that won at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival and at Flickerfest.
The Spa is a drama starring Chris Haywood, of Shine and Jindabyne fame, as well as the TV series Rake, All Saints and McLeod’s Daughters.
Shane Jacobsen, who appeared in Kenny, Charlie & Boots, Surviving Georgia, The Bourne Legacy and Oddball, appears in the comedy, Apprentice of the Year.
Jack Charles, the highly-acclaimed and enigmatic actor, stars in a drama.
He is an actor, musician, potter and Aboriginal elder.
His screen credits include the landmark Australian film, The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, Pan, Mystery Road and the TV series Cleverman, The Gods of Wheat Street and Wolf Creek.
Gillian Jones also stars in the same film, along with Damian Walshe-Howling, who won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the 2008 AFI Awards, for his role as Benji in the TV series Underbelly.
Adriano Zumbo, the master pastry chef, is a surprising star in another comedy; not surprisingly there is a cooking theme to it.
“The evening has all the essential elements of a fabulous festival - great films, festival buzz, terrific film guests and an enthusiastic audience,” Mrs Boulton said.
“Tickets are already selling well, so be sure not out miss out.”
Online booking is available at www.sconefilms.org.au
