And, Muswellbrook woman Libby Miles is encouraging her fellow residents to show their support by buying yellow.

On Friday, August 25, volunteers will be stationed in two Muswellbrook locations – in Bridge Street, near the Westpac Bank, and upstairs at the Marketplace.

The team will be selling 2017 Daffodil Day merchandise to raise money for the annual Cancer Council NSW fundraiser.

"We’re still striving to raise much-needed funds to get rid of this hideous disease,” Mrs Miles said, adding the people of Muswellbrook had been good champions of the cause in previous years.

"It’s getting harder to find anybody now that hasn't been touched in one way or another by cancer,” she said.

“Whether it be themselves, their personal family, or people that they know - it’s everywhere, and we just need to stop it.

“Because ordinary people can’t really do anything medically, this is our way of helping.

“And, it just gives you a lift to know that in your own little way, you’re helping.

“So, every time somebody purchases something from a Daffodil Day store, they’re helping fight cancer.”

Products available in this year’s collection range in price from $5 to $30, and include pens, key rings, teddy bears, badges, and fresh daffodils.

“We have our brand new bear this year, which is our fireman bear,” Mrs Miles said.

In 2016, Daffodil Day raised $5.6 million.
