The primary school celebrated NAIDOC Day 2017 with a variety of activities including Aboriginal language, art, bush tucker, dance, story-telling and a traditional smoking ceremony.
“The day commenced with the raising of the Aboriginal flag by the oldest and youngest Aboriginal students in the school – Latoya Hodgson and Harmony Stacy,” principal Megan Druitt said.
“This was followed by an Aboriginal dance performance led by Jacob Ellis.
“Jacob and Lee anne Ellis support all students at our school in the development of Aboriginal cultural knowledge on a weekly basis.
“Mr Barry French led the assembly in the acknowledgement of country.
“All members of the DPS Aboriginal Education committee worked incredibly hard to plan a fantastic day for the students and visitors to our school.”
