But nothing could prevent Ian Argus, principal Kempsey Stock and Land, from conducting his company’s regular Market Day Sale on the Thursday, June 22 with over 800 cattle sold.
“We appreciated our vendors and buyers that continue to support us especially at that sale,” he said.
Initial estimates put the age of sellers box at 35-40 years old, with a replacement expected to cost about $20,000.
The burnt out remnants were cleared from the site and a concrete slab was laid for the construction of a new box by staff from Kempsey Shire Council and Ray White.
Kempsey Council’s Dan Lomas described the arson attack as a “pretty ordinary act”.
In other saleyards news Gooch Agencies are conducting regular livestock sales at the Taree and Nabiac Showground facilities. Earlier this year both saleyards were expected to close.
