And, students from St James’ Primary School Muswellbrook were given a valuable opportunity to learn some top tips during a recent workshop.
For a number of weeks during Term 2, the Year 5 and 6 pupils listened as former school captain and local film buff Dominic Fitzgerald taught them tricks of the trade.
Mr Fitzgerald said the students took to the program very well.
“It was fantastic,” he said.
“I’m a volunteer and help run the Blue Heeler Film Festival.
“We came up with the idea of taking a simple program to the school, teaching the basic fundamentals of film-making.
“We relate it back to films they’ve seen so they can think back to that when making their own.
“The school has been really helpful and that’s been great having that cooperation.”
Children were able to choose their role in their group’s production, from acting to directing to filming.
