These events have been organised in partnership with the Upper Hunter Sustainable Farming Group (UHSFG) to assist livestock producers prepare for new Johnes Disease J-BAS requirements before June 30.
Topics include the NSW Biosecurity Act 2017 (self-management and Biosecurity Plan benefits for your farm), Johnes Disease (JD) management (how to self-assess your situation, your buyer needs and cattle marketing requirements), Johnes Beef Assurance Scores (J-BAS) – understanding this risk profile tool and how to achieve a J-BAS 6 before the June 30 deadline; Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) – the inclusion of best practice on-farm biosecurity and animal welfare with NVDs and NLIS; and LPA online learning modules, accreditation requirements and introduction of free eNVDs.
“The sessions are extremely topical and will attract a great deal of interest,” district vet Jane Bennett said.
The workshops are scheduled to take place at the Scone Golf Club (2.30pm to 4.30pm, including free afternoon tea) and Merriwa RSL Club (6.30pm to 8.30pm, including free light supper) on Thursday.
